While we had our electrical contractor handy working on the back hallway lighting, we had her install a new ceiling fixture in the bedroom. With the tubes out, the wiring has been re-routed to the new fixture and a new dimmer has been installed as well. Although the ceiling is relatively high, it was still too low for a chandelier. We bought a new 1930's inspired flush-mount 'Schoolhouse Pendant' fixture from Restoration Hardware - a nice retro meld between our 1950's inspired hospital bed and the period room details. Now that the new fixture is in, our carpenter will remove the empty fluorescent casings and patch up the ceiling.
