Given the considerable expense a good kitchen renovation can run, we descided to wait until after condo conversion to do a real kitchen renovation. Unfortunately, kitchens are hard spaces to avoid! Although the kitchen desperately requires a reconfiguration of cabinets and appliances to be truly user-friendly, at this time we're opting to only take on finishing the trim work and some other minor carpentry work (baseboards, etc), new light fixtures, and warm up the room with a new paint job. We hope bringing the room in line with the color palate of the rest of the house will make a huge difference. (The picture below was taken when the previous owners lived in the flat - it a lovely big room, but we hated the colors).
